Christians Cannot Vote Democrat

The more I hear from leading Democrat presidential hopefuls during the debates and public statements, the surer I am that you absolutely cannot be a true Christian and vote Democrat.

Of course, I am absolutely not advocating that you vote for the Republican party either. The current President is not the arbiter of Christian morality, and it makes me cringe when major “Christian” leaders come out with full-throated public support of a foul-mouthed womanizer. However, the political ideology of the Right aligns more with Christian values than the Left — and it is not even close.

Abortion

This should be a no brainer, but it unfortunately is not. The crux of the argument is when life begins. Stolid pro-life advocates argue that life begins at conception (which occurs as early as 3–5 minutes after ejaculation), though realistically I believe that implantation is the superior marker as this is the moment in which a fertilized embryo begins to grow. This occurs within a few days of intercourse.

However, pro-choice supporters argue that life begins after the fetus exits the womb. The more moderate position is that abortion should be allowed up until the age of viability, which is currently around 20 weeks. The more extremist position is that abortion be allowed at any moment up until birth — this is known as “late-term” abortion.

In the Democrat debate last night (Oct. 15, 2019), only ONE candidate expressed any desire for restrictions on abortion during the third trimester.

What does the Bible say though? Would God condone abortion?

Psalm 139:13–14 says, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

These verses demonstrate that God is pro-life (v. 13) and that life has intrinsic value (v. 14). Luke 1:41 discusses life in the womb as well: “And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”

This is life. John the Baptist was alive in the womb.

Furthermore, when David lost a child in 2 Samuel 22–23, he says, “And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live? 23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”

Notice David says, “I shall go to him,” which demonstrates an acknowledgement that David will one day be reunited with his infant son in eternity.

Children have value to God before they were even born. Each life matters to Him — which is why abortion is so egregious. Even though sin is in their blood, they are protected by grace until they can fully understand the Gospel. If something were to happen to them at such a young age, I know that, like David, we would see these little ones again in Heaven one day.

The Bible is clear — there are babies, not merely a “clump of cells” or a “fetus,” but children who are in the womb. They are alive and are “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

If you are a Bible-believing Christian, you cannot vote for a pro-choice Democrat.

The Second Amendment

Almost all the Democrat candidates have been vocal about passing legislation to ban or restrict access to a “weapon of war” — a bit of a misnomer, as any weapon used in battle can technically be a weapon of war, but many of those same weapons can also be used for home protection or hunting. An AR-15 in the closet is not a “weapon of war” unless it is specifically used in that manner.

The Second Amendment was written not just with regard to home defense and hunting, but for protection against tyranny — both foreign and domestic. One reason the Democrats want to disarm the law-abiding populace (because we all know that illegal gun owners will continue to break laws and keep their firearms) is to avoid an armed insurrection.

You might not own or support the use of firearms for any of these reasons, but what does the Bible say?

Luke 22:36,38 states, 36 “Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.”

God is not opposed to us having weapons, and they were not hunting here, but awaiting soldiers to come and arrest Christ. Jesus allowed Himself to be captured peacefully, but it is inferred that these weapons were to be used for self-defense if the affair went sideways.

Furthermore, the Old Testament is quite famous for the Israelites conquering and killing enemies who occupied the cities designated as the “promised land.” These battles should not be confused with murder of an innocent by an individual, which would violate the law of God, but as a sanctioned use of government power.

In other words, war and self defense can be justifiable uses of force, while we are not to go out as individuals and kill innocents. By taking away our God given natural right to self-defense, the Democrats are violating the Constitution and the Bible.

If you are a true believer, you cannot vote for an anti-second Amendment candidate.

LGBTQ+

This is likely to be one of the more contentious arguments. Many Christian denominations have been quite open to LGBT clergy and pastors. The major issue here is separating the sin from the sinner. Christians are commanded to “love thy neighbor (Matt. 22:39)” and “love your enemies (Matt. 5:44).” Thus, we are to love all people, whether they be straight, gay, lesbian, trans, Black, White, Hispanic, Christian, Muslim, atheist, or even vehemently and violently anti-Christian.

The biblical standard here is not with the sinner. Galatians 3:28 goes even further. With regard to anyone of any background, race, religion, or sexual orientation who repent of their sin and accept Jesus Christ as savior, the Bible says, “28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

These other social categories become irrelevant when we are unified under the blood of Christ.

That being said, Christians are not supposed to condone or be accepting of the sin itself.

I John 2:15–16 says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Furthermore, Romans 12:2 states, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Despite the defense of LGBT being a biological or genetic predisposition (all sin is genetic, we are all born sinners; Romans 3:10, 23), that does not excuse acting on their sin. It also does not mean that we Christians must conform to the world and participate in someone else’s sin.

Christians should not be an accomplice to murder. We should not contribute to someone’s alcoholism. We should not participate in a same-sex marriage.

Not only has society at large determined that violating Scripture should be the standard of the day (see the court cases about bakers, florists, etc. who refuse to provide products for same-sex weddings), but candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke has recently gone a step further and advocated for churches, synagogues, and mosques to bend the knee to the federal government and have their tax-exempt status revoked — even though most of these institutions act as charities as well as religious centers.

In 2019, the one institution that can be publicly scrutinized, attacked, and undermined with little to no resistance is the Christian church, and the LGBTQ+ movement is the vehicle that will likely remove the current legal separation of church and state. Instead, there will be an elimination of the church by the state — just as we have seen in other totalitarian countries where holding a church service can lead to incarceration.

If you are a true, Bible-believing Christian, you cannot vote for a candidate who wants to force us to bow to the LGBT movement instead of God.

Economics

Jesus Christ was likely not necessarily a capitalist. Since “the love of money is the root of all evil (I Tim. 6:10), He would not advocate for the unfettered greed found in modern capitalism. I do not believe he would support a large nanny state either.

Despite the calls from Jesus Christ to take care of our neighbors (Matt. 25), He was not a socialist either. We Christians are to be the ones to give to the poor, not to give to the government to take care of the poor. It is OUR duty to do so.

The crop of modern Democrats who advocate for “free” everything — which is actually welfare for all on the back of taxation of the wealthy — are not following Matthew 25. They want to steal from the rich to give to the poor in a redistribution of wages earned through legitimate means, rather than allow the rich to donate to charities of their choice (which Republicans do a much better job of, despite high taxation).

If “thou shalt not steal,” then a true Christian cannot vote for a wealth taxing, redistributionist, welfare supporting Democrat.

A General Disdain for Christianity

Despite the rhetoric of many candidates who claim to be “Christian,” like Cory Booker and Pete Buttigieg, their policies on the topics already mentioned are unbelievable unbiblical. Furthermore, there seems to be a general dislike of Christianity throughout Leftist politicians and celebrities. On the rare occasion in which Hollywood puts an openly Christian character in a film, they are often violent religious fanatics or bigoted caricatures.

Stand-up comedians (who are primarily Leftists) mock Christianity without repercussion. Barack Obama famously made fun of rural Christians who, when “they get bitter, cling to guns or religion.” Christians are often called “science deniers,” which is an absurd claim given that only 30% of Americans believe that science conflicts with their own personal religious beliefs.

It is open season on Christians and Christianity. Whether it be in court or the court of public opinion, Christians are depicted as bigoted rubes in most media and by most politicians (especially coastal elites).

Things are said about Christian beliefs that would never be uttered about Muslims or other religious groups, even if those beliefs are shared by billions of people around the world.

Because Leftists openly and often display anti-Christian intolerance, one cannot be a saved Christian and vote for a Democrat.

Who to Support

If you are a true Christian, you should put God first in all things. That means you should vote for a candidate who best synchronizes with biblical Christianity. That does not mean a “perfect” candidate, but the one who is most supportive of Christian doctrine. As immoral as Donald Trump is, he does seem to be pro-Christian in his policies. If you cannot bring yourself to casting a vote for him, then by all means look for a third-party candidate who you can be proud of.

But please, whatever you do, do not vote for an unbiblical Democrat.
